A United Kingdom-based cleric, Wisdom Akinpelu, has announced his plans to release two Christian drama series titled, ‘Eda Aye’ (The Mankind) and ‘The Strange Encounters’, this month.
According to a statement sent to Saturday Beats, the series aims to educate viewers on the importance of living a purposeful and a Christ-centred life. Although the movie would uphold the African culture and unveil biblical answers to human life issues, it would also explore themes such as sexual immorality, ethics, guilt, reconciliation and redemption.
‘The Strange Encounters’ explores the themes of temptation, guilt and the struggle for redemption. The story addresses the implication of pornography among the youth and adults.
On the other hand, ‘Eda-Aye’ mirrors the lives of five individuals who strive for success and peace, but were faced with overwhelming challenges that push them to the brink. Rather than give up on life, their relentless pursuit for a solution led to the uncovering of hidden secrets that provided them with the relief they so seek.
Akinpelu stated that through the fusion of entertainment and spiritual guidiance, the drama series is expected to make an impact on Nigerian audiences.
He said, “We plan to let these films speak to these social issues. Whether we like to admit it or not, many in the church and outside it struggle with addiction to pornography and we want to shine a spotlight on this, so they can see how it is destroying lives and seek the right way out of it.”
